School Library Systems Charts and Funding Factors

Funding Formula Factors Outlined in Education Law
Basic Aid Appropriation
Education Law 284(1)(a-d) outlines the base grant received by each system factored on public and nonpublic school enrollment figures. In addition to the base grant, Education Law 284(1)(e) outlines formula factors that provide additional funds based on the number of students enrolled, the number of public school districts within the system’s boundaries, and the geographic size in square miles of the system. Finally, Education Law 284(1)(f) outlines additional funds to systems formed by an approved act of merger.
Supplemental Operating Aid Appropriation
Outlined in Education Law 273(11)(c), each system receives $39,000 and an additional amount that’s equal to 10.94% of the amount of their statutory Basic Aid amount.
Automation Aid Appropriation
Each School Library System is eligible to receive an automation grant that amounts to 10% of the total Basic Aid.
