State Aid for Library Construction

Funds from an appropriation of $34 million in capital funds for public library construction in the FY2022-2023 State Budget can provide up to 90 percent of approved costs of broadband installation and/or approved costs for the acquisition, construction, renovation, or rehabilitation of public libraries or public library system headquarters.

For 2022-2023 projects and later:

  • Public library systems may apply for Coordinated Projects.
  • Library systems may spend up to 50% of their allocation to fund projects up to 90 percent of approved costs for libraries serving economically distressed communities.
