As the New York State regional depository for United States government publications, the NYS Library receives and preserves a copy of every document distributed under the Government Publishing Office's Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP). The NYS Library’s works to ensure New York’s collection includes at least one copy of every FDLP publication is retained by either the regional or one of the 65 selectives across the state.
The NYS Library commits to providing public access to FDLP materials. Many items are available by request and will be retrieved from the library’s closed stacks for use on the 7th floor of the Research Library. Public access computers are available on the 7th floor of the Research Library to provide free access to FDLP information on the Internet. Many items are listed in the NYS Library Catalog but not all items have been cataloged. If the item is not listed in the Library’s catalog, Ask a Librarian about other resources to help identify the item and locate library holdings:
The NYS Library is the Regional Depository and coordinates the FDLP with 65 selective Federal depository libraries located throughout New York State. Contact the Regional Coordinator for information about joining the FDLP.
